Classes

The Edmonton Fencing Club provides evening and weekend classes for people of all ages and skill levels. The Club supports recreational and competitive streams of fencing. Specialty classes such as parent/child, homeschool, wheelchair and outreach class in St. Albert are offered. The EFC offers hands on demonstrations that are perfect for school groups, birthday parties, office groups and stags/stagettes.

To register please fill out a registration form and waiver (see below). Forms can be scanned and emailed to the club or dropped off at the club office. If you are a returning member only  the waiver is required.

Class Descriptions

EFC provides classes for all ages and abilities. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced fencer, we have a class for you!

Young Beginner: Coordination, body awareness and fitness are developed through fencing and games in a relaxed recreational environment.Recommended ages: 5-10 years old. 

Beginner: A recreational introductory class with a greater focus on drills and tactics than the Young Beginner class. Recommended ages: 10-15 years old. 

Intermediate: Advancement of fencing movements (footwork and blade work) and improvement of tactical abilities are emphasized. This class has a greater emphasis on fitness than beginner classes. Recommended ages: 12-17 years old. 

Advanced: Refinement of fencing movements (footwork and blade work) and improvement of tactical abilities are emphasized. This class has a greater emphasis on fitness. Recommended ages: 16+

Advanced Competitive: Competitive athletes in foil, Sabre, and Epee. Must have head coach’s permission to register. Individually tailored training programs for each athlete. Recommended ages: At Head Coach's discretion. 

Adult: A recreational class intended for beginner and intermediate fencers. Recommended ages: 16+

St. Albert Program: The St. Albert program is designed as an introduction to fencing, and held for a 10 week session.
